Atrium Health Cabarrus and Brad Keselowski Joined to Fund Veterans Program

Atrium Health Cabarrus and Brad Keselowski once again shaken hands to fund the Veterans Recognition Program managed by Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation. It is the second year when Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation took the initiative to help Veterans who dedicated their lives serving the U.S. military. At the prestigious event, the Cabarrus Healthcare foundation thanked and appreciated the grant offered by Keselowski’s team. Checkered Flag Foundation donated a cheque of $ 114,350 on June 17, 2021, which makes the total contribution $158,010 towards the program. 

Before we discuss the appreciations by authorities, let’s brief what exactly the Veterans Recognition program exactly and how it is serving the Veterans in the country. 

What is the Veterans Recognition Program?

The Veterans Recognition Program was initiated by Cabarrus healthcare foundation with Checkered Flag Foundation and Atrium Health Cabarrus. Since early 2020, both the foundations have been supported the program and decided to continue serving the veterans this year. The program identifies and cares for the honorable veterans of our country. Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation provides sufficient resources from bed facilities to advanced surgical machines required for successful healthcare and treatments.

With more than 1100 physicians, Atrium Health Cabarrus is amongst the top acute care hospitals in Concord, NC. The hospital features over 457 beds and 4000 employees to serve patients at the level best. 

Atrium Health Cabarrus has an extensive inpatient and outpatient network that includes Jeff Gordon Children’s Center, Hayes Women’s Center, Heart & Vascular Center, Battle Cancer Center, and the part of Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute. Along with that, the hospital is facilitating the Veterans Recognition Program with essential resources for better healthcare. 

Brad Keselowski and Checkered Flag Foundation

Bradley Aaron Keselowski, well known as Brad Keselowski, is a professional stock car racer representing America. The professional races a No. 2 Ford Mustang GT in the NASCAR Cup for the Team Penske. He is also a part of the NASCAR Xfinity Series drives the no. 12 Mustang part-time. Besides his racing skills, Brad Keselowski lives in the heart of Americans because of his charitable activities and philanthropy. 

Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation honors more than 250 organizations in the country. The beloved racer initiated the Checkered Flag Foundation in 2010 to assist organizations in serving healthcare facilities to Veterans. He has a team of board members to manage the Checkered Flag Foundation and generating funds for the Veterans. 

Second Year Grant

As discussed above, Atrium Health Cabarrus and brad’s Checkered Flag Foundation supports the Veterans Recognition Program since 2020. On June 17, 2021, both the fundraisers joined hands and supported the program for the second year. Keselowski and his foundation’s board member handover a cheque of $114,350 during an event at Atrium Health Cabarrus. 

The Vice President and facility executive of Atrium Health Cabarrus, Asha Rodriguez, shared her thoughts. She said, “The credit of this prestigious occasion goes to Brad Keselowski and his Checkered Flag Foundation. By this partnership, the team is serving all the veterans that sacrificed their lives for our nation. We are thankful to Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation to fund the program this year and help us continue the Veterans Recognition Program. She described how Atrium Health Cabarrus supports Veteran Recognition Program and appreciates each Veteran patient for serving the country. At the time of admission, they are honored with a special welcome. The hospital facilitates the Veterans with a “Welcome Kit” that includes an American Flag, Soldier Cap, and other essentials to honor them. Additionally, at the time of discharge, the veteran patient and his family are escorted by security, honoring the deceased patient. The “Code Honor” symbolizes respect for the Veteran as well as for his family members. 

An honorable veteran initiated and shared, “On this prestigious occasion, I would like to thank Atrium Health Cabarrus for its services. The hospital treats me with the utmost respect and cares that I never received anywhere else. Whenever a faculty member visits me, they motivate me by saying that I am a hero for them more than a veteran. I appreciate the services and thankful to the providers.”

“My motive to create the Checkered Flag Foundation was to serve back those who sacrificed their lives for our country. Now I am feeling I achieved the purpose and can appreciate the heroes with Atrium Health Cabarrus. It is the second year of our partnership, and I am excited to continue the Veterans Recognition Program this year.” NASCAR Driver and the founder of Checkered Flag Foundation.

The president of Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation, Charlie Sastoque, appreciated two small-scale businesses to support the Veterans Recognition Program. Cabarrus Funeral Cremation & Cemetery and Dixie Cleaners support the program with their delicate services. The Cabarrus Funeral Cremation & Cemetery funded the flags to complete the “Code Honor” protocol during the discharge of a deceased veteran. Dixie Cleaners promised to clean and maintain the flags used for discharge to make them usable afterward. They handle the Flag with utmost gratitude and clean them for other veterans. 

After the presentation, Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation board members and brad himself had a walk around visiting the arrangements. The team visits and delivers the welcome kit to the Veteran patients at the hospital to honor them for their service to the nation. Along with that, the racer waved the American Flag on the door of a Veteran patient so that the staff members recognize the patient and treat him with due diligence.

At the end of the note, Brad appreciated the foundation for the massive success of the Veterans Recognition Program during the first year. The program has provided more than 500 welcome kits to Veteran patients. Also, it held 4 “Code Honor” protocols honoring the deceased Veteran patients since the program start. Brad Keselowski himself conversed with the patients and respected them for their sacrifices for the nation. He further shared his expectations to keep engaged with the healthcare foundation and treat more Veteran patients.
